HOST
i want to host! how do i apply?
We are so thankful for all our hosts in prior years and look forward to meeting our 2024 hosts!
To apply to become a host for this year’s event, please click the button at the bottom of this page. You’ll want to make sure you meet the requirements, so please keep reading below!
The application deadline is August 15, 2024.
what are the requirements to be a host?
As a Milford Porchfest host, you agree to host a local musician or band on your porch on Saturday, September 28 between 12:00pm and 6:00 pm. Each musician/band will perform for at least 60 minutes, but no longer than 90 minutes.
We also ask that you:
- Have the permission of the property owner and have a front porch/stoop/area to host bands that is easily accessible by the street - no back yards, please!
- Work with your area captain and musician to communicate set-up and take down needs early in the planning process – leaving 1 hour between musicians or communicate with the next musician about their setup
- Assist musicians/bands with setup on your porch
- Encourage participants stay on your private property and not in the street
- Plan ahead for inclement weather! In the event of rain, provide a dry space, either in your garage, covered porch or tent for the band to perform
- Get the word out! Post a sign with your host schedule prior to the event to promote the event at your home (handmade signs encouraged!)
- Notify your neighbors of your participation in the event
- Reference your Host Kit (to be provided) for all the details!
Some homeowners, at their discretion, elect to purchase additional liability insurance for the day – this is entirely up to you!
**Your application will be reviewed by the committee for many factors including porch size, time slots available and proximity to other locations in the zone. You will be notified by email if your application to host is approved!
how can i connect with others participating in this year’s porchfest?
Talk with your community to see if someone in your neighborhood might be involved! Milford Porchfest has a Facebook page for this event where musicians, homeowners, and the general public may connect. You can find information here on our website and #milfordporchfest on social media, too.
